The Beatles were the legendary rock music group that became the pop idols of the 1960s. This group was formed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison in 1959, and in 1962 Ringo Starr joined them. The early music of the Beatles infused the styles of Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley with fresh, cheeky wit, but then they created their own styles in rock music. Their huge succes heralded the true age of rock, with its explosion of forms, styles and personalities. Their appearances in every show were always excellent and their fashions in clothes and hairstyles influenced a generation of young people.
Most of the Beatles songs were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Their lyrics were sweet, simple and memorable. Their first recordings "Love Me Do" (1962) and "Please Please Me" (1963) reached the highest position in the British Charts.
The Beatles disbanded in 1970, though they still own fanatical fans all over the world. Many of their songs still remain to be evergreen up to the present time. Really, the Beatles are phenomena.
