Do you want to know a secret?

The Beatles, Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, were the most popular pop group of the 1960s. Perhaps they were the most popular group ever. Between 1962 and 1970 they had 24 hit records in the British Singles Top 30. In 1964 the Top 5 records in the United States in one week were Beatles` records. In the mid-1960s a music critic wrote about the Beatles. She said the Beatles had a secret. Their songs were `always in the first and second person, never in the third person`.

`Third person` words are `he, his, him, himself, she, her, hers, herself, they, them, their, themselves, it, its, itself`. `Mine` is an example of a first person word, `yours` is an example of a second person word.

The History Of Succes

All the members of the Beatles were born in Liverpool, a big city in the north of England. Ringo Starr was born on 7th July 1940. Paul McCartney was born on 18th June 1942. John Lennon was born on 9th October 1940. George Harrison was born on 25th February 1943. They all went to school in Liverpool and as boys, they listened to and liked the same kind of music.
They met each other in clubs and shared a common interest in rock`n`roll. Instead of just listening, they soon decided to play their favourite kind of music themselves. At first they practiced together and played in local clubs whenevwr they could.
It was difficult to get jobs playing their kind of music in clubs in Liverpool, so the Beatles accepted work in Hamburg, in Germany. They went there in 1960 and stayed for more thay a year. In Hamburg they worjek very hard, playing in clubs every night of the week. When they returned to Liperpool in 1962, they were already very skillful musicians. In those two years, they had learnt how to write good songs and play them well.
Back in Liverpool, they played at a club called `The Cavern`. Soon, young people in that city began talking about the Beatles. More and more of these teenagers went to listen to the Beatles when they played at The Cavern. In Liverpool itself, they were already famous.
Then one day, a girl went into a big music shop in Liverpool. She asked the manager if he had a record by a group called `The Beatles`. The manager told her that the Beatles had never made a record. During the next few weeks many more people came into the shop to ask for a Beatles` record. Each time the manager had to tell them the same things; The Beatles had not made a record.
The manager of the music shop was called Brian Epstein. Because so many people asked for a record by the Beatles, Epstein decided to go and listen to the group himself. When he heard them, he was astonished at first by the noise in the small club. But soon, like everybody else in the Cavern, he began to enjoy himself.
Brian Epstein enjoyed himself so much that he spoke to the Beatles when they had finished playing. He talked them for along time and finaly persuaded them to let him become their manager. He knew a lot about the music industry and so would be able to help them in their career. Epstein wrote to all the big record companies and sent them tapes of the Beatles singing and playing. The record companies did not really like the Beatles` music. At first, nobody wanted to give them the chance to make a record.
But, in his office in London, one important man listened again and again to the tapes. He felt sure that the Beatles would be succesful. This man`s name was George Martin, and he persuaded his record company to give the Beatles a chance to make a record. That was just the beginning.

Legendary Rock Music Group

The Beatles were the legendary rock music group that became the pop idols of the 1960s. This group was formed by John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison in 1959, and in 1962 Ringo Starr joined them.
The early music of the Beatles infused the styles of Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley with fresh, cheeky wit, but then they created their own styles in rock music. Their huge succes heralded the true age of rock, with its explosion of forms, styles and personalities. Their appearances in every show were always excellent and their fashions in clothes and hairstyles influenced a generation of young people.
Most of the Beatles songs were written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Their lyrics were sweet, simple and memorable. Their first recordings "Love Me Do" (1962) and "Please Please Me" (1963) reached the highest position in the British Charts.
The Beatles disbanded in 1970, though they still own fanatical fans all over the world. Many of their songs still remain to be evergreen up to the present time. Really, the Beatles are phenomena.
